“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up HIs countenance upon you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26

You know this promise very well. These are the words in which we close every Worship Service after having received the gifts of God’s Word and Sacrament. It is a wonderful sending into a new week and a great encouragement for each and every day. These are the very words of God by which the first High Priest, Aaron, would bless the Lord’s people.

We rightly recognize this as a blessing from God Himself, showing His favor and pronouncing His power for prosperity and success. You might think it is a different theme from our current series of “Promises” but when we look more closely, we see that all of God’s Promises are indeed a blessing. All of God’s promises remind us that He favors us and has planned for us a hopeful future. When we read His promises, we should interpret them as  blessings and pray them on others and ourselves.

Whatever challenges you are facing, take His Words for you today as a promise that grants His blessing that He will indeed, keep you, shine upon you with His grace, smile upon you and give you, peace!

Know that you are loved!

Peace and Joy,
Pastor Kilian
