“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9

God’s promise to hear us and honor our efforts in knowing His will is our encouragement this day! The promise is not to give us anything we ask for or seek, but rather that which is according to His will. We might ask for material blessings or seek social status, and the like, and if this is the Lord’s will to give it to us, so be it. Yet, God’s desire is that we would ask first for His spiritual gifts, seek the Kingdom of God and walk in His ways. We are always free to ask and seek and knock, but as we do so, we should first discern as to whether they are the gifts that God tells us to ask for and to seek.

God’s desire is to give His Children good gifts and it is His pleasure to do so. Asking and seeking is ultimately to know His will above ours and to search for those gifts that are most crucial in life, namely, the gifts of the spirit. Galatians 5:22 outlines the gifts God wants us to desire: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. As we know God’s will more fully, these are the gifts we will most desire as they are in line with His will.

The promises of Luke 11 call us to examine and realign our own desires and to determine whether they are good and appropriate to ask for or to seek. When we know on the heart of God and ask to know His will more fully and seek what He desires, we will find Him ready and willing to give, reveal, and open the way to the abundant life!

Know that you are loved!

Peace and Joy,
